New Original Oil Paintings from Caprice

New Paintings and Their Backstory!

Paint has been flying here in the Caprice Fine Art & Co Studio Gallery. After a slow season last fall, I am pleased to share my most recent original oil paintings with you.  The top three paintings are available for sale.  The bottom painting is my recent commission and it is now living in a beautiful home here in Kimberley.

This painting depicts pine trees and birch trees with autumn leaves. View is near St. Mary's Lake in the East Kootenay of British Columbia.
'St. Mary's Country', 8″X10″, unframed oil on canvas $250.00 CDN

In March I was asked by the Calgary Chapter of the Canadian Federation of Art to do a painting demo during their monthly meetings.  This little gem of a painting is the result of that demo.  It was so much fun to paint and talk art with this fabulous group of artists. I am grateful for the opportunity.  This painting is available for sale from the website.

this painting is of a mountain view with an alpine lake and trees in the foreground. The mountain is blue, pink and purple; the lake is aqua coloured and the trees are dark green with highlights.
'Mountain Air',10″X8″, unframed oil on canvas $250.00 CDN

This little painting was also started as a demo in my “How to Paint Mountains” lecture.  It sat in my studio for such a long time until I changed the trees and added a few finishing touches.  The painting is now available for sale from the website.

If you missed the “How to Paint Mountains” art lecture it is also available for sale.  Click here for more info on that.

This painting is a of trees with a mountain view above Island Lake. The sun is hit the middle mountain peak. There is snow on the mountains.
'Above Island Lake', 24"X36", unframed oil on canvas $2500.00 CDN

I took a trip to Island Lake near Fernie in the summer of 2017.  It was a rainy day but the sun peeked out long enough for me to see this magnificent view.  I started this painting not long after.  It has been hanging on my Studio wall for years until I finally knew which direction to take to finish it.  Sometimes the paintings take a while to tell you what they want.  This painting is available for sale from the website or email Caprice to make an appointment to view the original oil painting.

The painting shows a view of a neighbourhood in Kimberley. There is a street with autumn coloured trees in yellow and red on either side and a mountain view of yellow larch trees.
'Forest Crown', 24"X36", oil on canvas, commission, private collection, Kimberley, BC

Commission paintings are my favorite kind of work as I am able to work closely with my clients to give them a painting that truly speaks to them.  This painting was no exception.  It portrays a view in Forest Crown in Kimberley, BC which is a place that is special to my clients.  I am pleased to be involved creating these memories.
